Description

My son is now 3 years old. He’s only recently started sleeping reasonably well, so I wake up just 1–2 times a night instead of 4–10 times.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a stuffy feeling in my throat, sinuses, and nose. I also had a slight runny nose. It was all on the left side. I could physically feel this “clogged-up” sensation. My first thought was: Oh no, not that too. Then I won’t be able to handle the day’s demands.
Daily life kicked off right away, and these symptoms stayed with me throughout the day. Every now and then, I wondered what kind of weather or odor conflict (due to the sinuses and stuffy nose) I might have resolved. Nothing came to mind.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that I finally got a chance to sit down in peace and listen to my inner self. And then it immediately came to me. My son had woken up several times the previous night because a booger was blocking his airway. I was annoyed because I had tried several times during the day to help him soften or remove the booger. So this interruption of his sleep could have been avoided. But he had flatly refused. I had then massaged the outside of his nose during the night to loosen the booger, and that seemed to have worked for the time being. He fell back asleep. I lay awake for a while longer, then lay down in the same room a little further away from him to have more breathing room for myself and fell asleep as well.
When he woke up the next time, I realized that several hours must have passed and relaxed inwardly: I’d gotten at least a halfway decent amount of sleep. The day is saved. Then, as I said, I woke up about an hour later with the symptoms.

Classification in the 5BN:

My stink conflict (SBS of the ectodermal mucosa) was the booger and the avoidable disruption of my sleep (which really stank to me—given my very long history of suffering when it comes to sleep). I wondered why the sinuses reacted as well. I suspect it’s because my son described the booger as being way in the back and was always sniffing the air very forcefully through his nose. This caused me to literally feel a discomfort of my own right up toward the sinus, and I hoped he wouldn’t push the booger even further up. Early in the morning, the conflict was resolved for me when I realized I could sleep for a few hours. About an hour later, the PCL symptoms appeared—a stuffy nose and left-sided sinus congestion.

Why was the tonsil involved as well? The left tonsil relates to the endoderm and represents a “chunk conflict”—being unable to get rid of something. That was certainly the booger I wanted to get rid of but couldn’t at first. Since the nose massage helped, the conflict was also resolved. Probably also involved was the feeling that the nighttime disturbances were a lump I just couldn’t get rid of.

And then during the day there was a mild runny nose. This is the ca-phase of the deeper nasal mucosa (endoderm). This area obviously reacted as well to get enough air despite the stuffy nose. In the ca-phase, it responds to an air-blockage conflict or suffocation conflict with a runny discharge to clear the nose. I suspect my inner statement “I need air” at night was also involved, which is why I had lain down somewhat away from him.

The symptoms were completely on the left side, since the conflict content concerned my son.

When I became aware of the connection, everything inside me relaxed very quickly. My overall well-being was already significantly better by that evening. The next night was also reasonably okay, and the symptoms subsided relatively quickly.

What is remarkable to me is the fact that understanding the process brings about an inner change. It was clear to me that the majority of the issue had already been resolved, but I was very close to tipping into a new imbalance and likely a new conflict. “I can’t do this.” Or something similar. But by understanding the connections, that downward spiral didn’t take hold, and it remained at the original, relatively brief conflict and the very mild resolution.
