Description

Left-handed, young farmer woman who has recently experienced several other conflicts related to self-esteem and feeling overwhelmed.
Pain upon pressure and when lifting a small pitcher in the left forearm and at the tendon insertions of the relevant muscles.
Trigger likely the escape of two cows from the entire herd.
Conflict duration approximately 30 minutes.
Conflict resolution: presumably resolved when the cows were “caught” and brought back.
The tissue healed over a period of about 3 weeks, though the duration should be considered relative to the other underlying SBS “Rheumatism.”

During and after the massage treatments, she always feels significantly better, as she says.
I interpret the reduction in symptoms as a result of a relaxation of the tension (hypertonicity due to inflammation/increased cortisol) and increased blood flow, as well as an elevated metabolism, including water molecule movement between fascial tissues.

Functional regulation occurs naturally, provided the client was able to brush off the incident without stress, which is to be assumed.
Cell regeneration will likely not be necessary, as the conflict was brief and there was no visible or measurable muscle breakdown.

There is still much to learn here. We physical therapists are, in fact, effectively only measuring the current state. Anything attributable to measurements in relation to baseline measurements can be interpreted as an increase or decrease, as functional enhancement or reduction/loss.
In this case, I must, in principle, start from an estimated normal value of strength by comparison with the opposite side and, of course, from subjective reports, which is currently more difficult since I have no comparative values from the past.

Furthermore, as is well known, whatever feels subjectively beneficial helps. And thus, every touch is a promising treatment, provided it is perceived by the affected person as pleasant, effective, and important. It is, however, partly vagotonic-enhancing and consequently pain-enhancing, but it can also initiate healing in the first place if the conflict-resolving phase has not yet occurred.

Many patients feel misunderstood and unheard, and only receive this kind of attention and genuine interest during a therapy session. This often allows the conflict to be discussed and resolved.

This is my first case report. Unedited. I am very much looking forward to being part of
this network.

Merci, Grazie, and Tuusig Dank!

Note by Ingmar Marquardt
What struck me while reading this were the 30 minutes of conflict activity and the 3-week PCL phase. Normally, these two phases are about the same length. But as has already been described: Since nothing was broken down during those 30 minutes, there is no need for a time-consuming rebuilding process afterward.

Possible explanations:
- The actual conflict occurred much earlier: weeks, months, or years prior, and had been active or transformed down since then. For example, a different situation with the cows, where they perhaps could not be caught as quickly. And through this similar, repeated incident and the quick, successful capture this time, the old SBS could then be resolved, so that the cellular breakdown that occurred back then was now rebuilt. I consider something along these lines to be quite plausible in the case described here.

Note: Have you also had exciting experiences with the 5BL? If so, it would be great if you could send us an anonymized report so that we can publish it in the archive and everyone can benefit from your experiences. Thank you very much!
